that's it! I wasn't standing on the corner trying to spam the living daylights out of the server, or jumping to a district every three seconds spamming the same message. And this was the first time that I had ever done it! We're not trying to force people to be Christians! But we are trying to meet other Christians and talk with people about the gospel. If someone that I grouped with told me to keep my religion to myself, then I would politely not engage such a person in a religious conversation.
If that's all you were doing, I have no problem with it. No different from a guild narrowing their applicant pool down to all females, or 21+, or above level 20.

But I have to admit I am a little wary of devout Christians who I don't know (because the ones I do are all awesome), and that's mostly because Christianity does seem to have the most aggressive recruitment policy of any major religion. I have to deal with people shouting at me through loudspeakers on the street and waving signs and pamphlets in my face, knocking on my door and calling me on the phone on a pretty regular basis. I can see that isn't you so it's an unfair bias and forgive me for my gut reaction, but some people may deal with the same thing and won't make that distinction right away.

I also kind of know how you feel. In America, it's unthinkable to denounce any race, religion, class or gender.... unless it's Christians or white males, who seem to be fair game. I'm not Christian but as a white male the double-standard really bugs me. I don't own any slaves, I'm not oppressing anyone, and I shouldn't have to pay for any amount of stigma from forefathers I never knew.

If you turn this into a debate over the merits or failings of President Bush... you will lose.

Not lose; fail miserably. "Loss" would infer that it was an actual contest to begin with

Seems to be the way it is in the US as well. Even in the 'Bible Belt'.

If that recruiting line is all you say, then I don't see what the problem is. It's not like your standing on a corner waving a bible in the air, calling everyone who passes a sinner. I say more power to ya.

It should also be noted that few American Christians really understand what persecution is. We can openly hold a church service and our right to do so is legally protected. Try that in a communist nation like China and you put your very life on the line.

So I really wouldn't consider a few harmless insults in a gaming environment to represent persecution. But the fact that Christianity is one of the world's least tolerated world views is self-evident.

Isn't there an NPC that DOES do that though?

Darren.. Than..

Let's not drag politics into our religious discussion..

If you two want to bash eachother over political beliefs..PLEASE do it through PM. I think the majority of us had enough politicking during last year's election campaign to satisfy us for the next 3 or 4 years.

Your comments were rude and inconsiderate.

He’s not preaching in game nor is he here, he’s simply stating he belongs to a Christian guild that is interested in others that share the same values in life "and" game.

There is a real simple solution should you run across him in game and don’t care to hear. Report it if you feel he's in violation or /ignore works wonders!

Good point. No use arguing whether the Earth is round.

As far as religion goes, the motivation for crashing planes into the World Trade Center was not religious. If they had wanted to strike out at Christians, they'd have crashed planes into the Vatican. They wanted to strike out at Americans, who they don't generally perceive as having any religion at all, but that's not really their beef either.

Which was in response to all wars are caused by Bush and Religion? I was pointing out a obvious flaw in that posters asertation.

As a student majoring in history, yes, he was a LARGE idiot for making such a generalization. The posters view of the president had jack didally to do with it. Such statements are moronic and instantly recived response stating as such from when if and when I see them.

"Are you a Christian? Then consider Servants of the Son for your guild!"

Not that i am personally offended by this, but i can see how some people would be offended or insulted by this.

What if i was "Are you white? Consider drinking from this fountain?" you dont think black people would find this offensive?

By your recruiting line u are implying that if u are not a christian u are not "good" enough to join the guild.

No it's not! If I make a guild for anime fans and spam, "Are you an anime fan? Consider joining the Otaku Guild!", I am not implying that if you are not an anime fan you are not "good" enough to join. Just that you probably wouldn't be interested...

I don't think that's true. "Drink from this public fountain" is not the same as "join my personal club". I'm not upset that I can't be in the NAACP, nor do I figure they think they're better than me just because they want their forum to be exclusive to people of a certain kind.

Good point, but relgion is still a factor. It really shows where the modern man's priorities lie

Hehe.. i wonder if people are upset because you have to kneel to the Guild Wars false gods, like Balthazar and Dwana.
